The golden rule: trust measurements, not label sizes
Vintage and European sizing varies enormously between brands, eras and countries. A "size 40" from an Italian label is not the same as a "size 40" from a French one. That's why we provide exact flat-lay measurements for every single item.
How to measure a garment
- Pit to pit (chest width): measure straight across the chest, armpit seam to armpit seam, then double it for the full chest circumference.
- Length: from the highest point of the shoulder (next to the collar) straight down to the hem.
- Shoulders: seam to seam across the back.
- Sleeve: from the shoulder seam to the cuff.
- Waist: across the waistband, doubled.
How to find your size
- Take a similar garment you already own and love the fit of.
- Lay it flat and measure it the same way we do.
- Compare your numbers with the measurements in our listing.
- Allow a little ease — knitwear especially should not be skin-tight unless designed that way.

Between sizes?
If you're between measurements, consider how you want to wear the piece: closer to the smaller number for a tailored look, closer to the larger for a relaxed fit. Still unsure? Ask us before ordering — we're happy to take an extra measurement.
